Points for the things that actually happened

Most event games are bolted on. Points for opening the app, a leaderboard topped by whoever tapped the most, and a prize nobody can explain. Attendees stop believing it by lunchtime, and exhibitors never see a single extra visitor from it.

evenclo keeps no separate points ledger. Every point comes from something that already happened and is already recorded: a badge scanned at the door, a session attended, a stand visited, a meeting both sides confirmed, a survey answered. The score is worked out from those records, so it cannot drift from them.

What earns points

The points settings for an event, listing what each action is worth, including a keynote session set to a higher value than the default
The points settings for an event, listing what each action is worth, including a keynote session set to a higher value than the default

Eleven actions can score, each with a default you can change: arriving at the event, checking into a session, a stand scanning your badge, an accepted connection, a confirmed meeting, a survey, a live poll, a question the room saw in Q&A, a saved session, playing at a stand, and a trivia question answered correctly. A keynote can be worth more than a breakout, and zero is a real value: set an action to zero and it stops counting.

A leaderboard people believe

  • Ties share a place: two equal scores are both second, and the next is fourth
  • Your rank is counted against everyone, not just the top 25 on screen
  • A stand visit counts distinct stands, so being scanned twice at one booth is one visit
  • A question in Q&A scores only once the room has seen it
  • Anyone hidden from the delegate directory is never listed

The organizer sees the same standing the attendees see, with a CSV for prizes. The leaderboard is off until you switch it on.

Things to do on the day

  • Trivia: push a question with three answers; every phone counts down to the same second, and a right answer in time scores
  • Stand queues: attendees join a demo queue by scanning a poster, and earn points when staff scan them in
  • Live polls and Q&A inside sessions, with questions moderated before the room sees them
  • A photo wall for photos and short clips, with approval before posting if you want it

What the points buy

In the attendee app, points buy perks from a rewards store: a coffee, a sample, a priority demo. Exhibitors propose perks for their own stand and the organizer approves them, each with a limit that is enforced first come, first served. The attendee agrees to the swap on the perk itself, and the stand hands it over by scanning their badge.

Common questions

Can I choose what earns points?

Yes. Each of the eleven actions has a default value you can change or set to zero, and individual sessions and trivia questions can carry their own value.

Does spending points in the rewards store lower my rank?

No. The leaderboard ranks on points earned. The store spends a separate balance, and the app shows both.

Can an attendee stay off the leaderboard?

Yes. Anyone who has hidden themselves from the delegate directory is never listed on the leaderboard.

Is the leaderboard on by default?

No. It stays off until the organizer switches it on for the event, and so does the photo wall.
